--Former ilater Constable Is Acquitted of MurderLEXINGTON, Mo., Oct. 19.— (AP)—John Nunn, former Slater, Mo., constable, was freed today of charges he murdered Carl Wood on Dec. 4, 1937, in a cafe at Slater.The jury deliberated an hour and 45 minutes after defense coun-f|l had stressed Nunn’s self-de-ense plea in its summation.Nunn was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 15years by a previous jury but thetrial judge granted him a new trial. *The defendant testified that Wood had threatened him and that he fired when Wood reached behind him after a quarrel in the Slater cafe.
