Glassware, Quilts Kitchen Collectables3 405 Noble St Inside Larsons jewelery Bldg.sTues. - Fri. 11-6, Sat. 11-5 sdent last week is slowly emerging from a coma and has been upgraded to satisfactory condition at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, his family said.Benjamin Fenwick, 16, walked Wednesday for the first time since the Oct. 9 accident, said his mother, Eddie Huffman.“Doctors are really impressed with how he’s doing,’’ she said. “We’ve got a long road ahead, a long road, but I feel better.”The extent of Fenwick’s brain damage is still unknown.“We don’t know the future,” she said. “That’s the frightening part, we don’t know what’s going to happen. ”Fenwick was injured when the car he was riding in flipped into a ditch at mile 18.6. Two Rivers resident Ronald Fox, 44, wasdriving Fenwick and a friend to Fenwick’s father’s house when he lost control around midnight, according to Alaska State Troopers.A preliminary investigation by troopers indicated that Fox, a safety driving trainer on Fort Wainwright, was speeding and showing his passengers how wellhis new 1995 Eagle Talon handled.Fox registered a .085 percent blood-alcohol level on a portable breath test troopers administered on scene. That is within the .10 legal limit for driving.The accident remains under investigation by troopers.Meanwhile, Huffman said she finds strength in the overwhelming help lent by her son’s friends from North Pole HighSchool.“Right before the accident, he blew the engine in the truck. Now his friends are over there fixing it for him. And the girl friends, they’re completely redoing his room,” she said.“These kids, they’re my strength, they’re all of our strength.”
