Y. OCTOBER 19,1925.STATE POLICE DETAIL AIDING IN SEAKCH(Continued Trm P*** On*)West Pittsburg for Constable Walter Bannon. When told of the find Bannon was somewhat skeptical and decided that he would go and . look at the remains himself before | calling county authorities. It was after 3 p. m. when the bones were discovered and it was 4 o’clock when Bannon visited the spot. He w'as of the opinion that the bones were those of a human being and, going to a telephone called Coroner J. p. Caldwell and County Detective J. M. Dunlap, both of whom responded. When Coroner Caldwell arrived he found a large crowd from West Pittsburg gathered in the swamp. The flesh, he found, had all been decomposed from the bones. In his opinion the man had probably met his death in July or August. Bodies decompose rapidly, he said, in hot weather.Hunt For Skull.Constable Walter Bannon had brought a shovel and two burlap sacks along with him. After removing the bones to one side, Coroner Caldwell asked that some one dig under where the body had lain I in the hope of finding the skull, ■ which was missing. Nothing was found. Search was made by the ; crowd in the immediate vicinity, but no skull could be found. The i | position of the bones indicated that i the body had lain wdth the feet to-1 I war(* ^le north. It. may I have been a co-incidence, or it may • have been intentional in the mind of the fiend who committed the murders.
