De-Mar maintained the .silence that hasmarked his conduct during the entire trial when asked three times whether he had anything to say before the court passed sentence upon him. The verdict could have taken with it a death sentence, but the state had asked only for life lip-in’lsonment ta the State Prison at Mich*gan City. The defense was insanity. De-Mor‘ was not placed on the Witness stand, and paid no attention to the proceedings, staring straight ahead of him and seldom ■ moving. The evidence was concluded yesterday morning and the case was argued ror three hours.DeMar shot his wife, Lizzie DeMar, March 9. Mrs. DeMar had left him and later returned home to get her clothing, film refuted to live with her husband when h? asked Iter and was kneciiug on the floor taking up a carpet when he phot her.
