MYSTERIOUS MURDER AT ISLAND CREEKAn Oil Well Man Shot as He Lay in Bed And Died Soon After.Steubenville. October 19.- A mysterious murder case is puzzling the police officials. Calvin Owens, an oil well plumber, well known in tin* Island Creek district, was shot as be lay in bed on the floor of the attic of his cabin early yesterday morning. He died from the effects of the wound in the afternoon The bullet was of 32 caliber and passed through h's head.The family of the murdered man will not talk about the affair and speak ol it in a guarded way. Owens had no enemies, so far as is known, and the motive of the crime could not have been robbety. as the money in the house was untouched and nothing was missing. The police officials working on the case are utterly at a loss to account for the crime ami have no clew.
