Tiik Salem Republican has an able article on the McHatton case, and shows that the crime for which McHatton was sentenced to the peu wasperjury, and not for making false returns to the Assessor. It also reads the St. Louis Republic,* and the Salem Democrat, which latter stole the Republic's article, a lecture on trying to make a party “ten-strike” on the case, incidentally citing the fact that both McHatton and the Assessor are Democrats, and that the Assessor on the stand swore to neglecting his official duties.Khoum«ti*m and Iy»p«pniit Cared.
