BURGLARS RAID HOMESIBold Thieves Go From House toin Evening—River Forest Woman Bound and GaggedDesperadoes ruled in a reign of terror last Sunday evening in a quiet neighborhood in North Oak Park, extending from Augusta to Thomas street, bounded by Harlem and Forest avenues. Attempts at entrance were made at a dozen homes; while the robbers literally ransacked six houses, leaving no clues save ironic drawings of flowers on pieces of undesired dishes or silver. The places where the thieves were able to force their entrance successfully included the following:715 Forest avenue, John Bramhall, $175 cash, $1,000 fine clothes, silver and jewelry.731 Forest avenue, Harry Sonday,$100 worth new clothing, jewelry.745 Forest avenue, Mrs. Clara Russo, $350 in jewelry.1112 Thomas street, M. Van Die-pen, small amount of change.1016 Thomas street, John B. Meier, three valuable rings, small change.814 Harlem avenue, E. C. Johnson, mandolin, 3 silk umbrellas; clothes, pearl beads, watch, new clothes, $14 caSh, (broach dropped by thieves and found by police).On Monday evening, an unsuccessful attempt at robbery was made at 447 Washington boulevard, and the police found two suspicious men with brace and bit near the location, who confessed they had planned a robbery.Sunday’s thieves are. thought to be pro- 4 fessional crooks, for their entrances were ill made systematically. The wholesale robbery must have been carefully planned tor only homes were visited where the owners were absent. Every house isited had the doors and windows locked, ind entrances usually were obtained by ■naking ’ holes thru the doors, large :nough thru which to insert the hand to rnbolt the doors inside.
