rMET HIS DEATHilt;FLOODWOODhItJOHN FARREL MET DEATH IN A fSUSPICIOUS MANNER.Early La«t Evening—Coroner HoldingInquest This Afternoon— Funeral Takes Place TomorrowJohn Parrel, a well known man inAthens and the vicinity, met his death at Flood wood early last evening. The affair Is shrouded with mystery, and at present no light can be thrown on the affair.This is the last of a series df murders that have taken place at or near the notorious Black Cat saloon at Floodwood. Many a man has beenfound dead on the railroad tracks and in the vicinity, but there is still no explanation. No one could be produced who knew anything aboutthe cases.Frank Farrel, of Athens, who works on Sugar Creek at night, is the dead man's son, and was summoned to Floodwood last night. When he arid ved his father was dead, but this morning Frank could tell the Messenger nothing definite. He stated that he heard his father had fallen from a bridge. Also heard that his father met death in the Warner Joint, operated by one Spray, and that the elder Mr. Farrell had then been carried to Tommy West's home, over the Black Cat, where ho died Evidently the fatalitv occurred about t’» o'clock in the evening.Frank knew nothing further as Coroner Lane took charge of the body and would not give out any informa tlon as to the marks on the body,etc.The inquest will be held this after noon at 1 o’clock, at Nelsonville, and will tie attended by Frank and I /‘oFarrell, of this city.Surviving the deceased are ttve children and one brother. The children are: Frank, I/*o and James, of this city; Mrs. Edward Beck, of Logan, and Miss I/ena Farrell. One brother, W H. Farrell, also lives in Athens.For many years Mr. Farrell con ducted a meat shop at Chauncey, butof late has been running a restauranton Sugar Creek.The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the residence of Frank Farrell, on Lancaster street.
