WAS HORRIBLY TREATED.Stones* Bricks and Knives Used on PoorMichal Markiewicz.South Bend, Oct. 17.—Michael Markiewicz died yesterday afternoon from injuries received Friday night at the hands of a mob of about fifteen bun-garians, who attacked him and John Wesolowski, with jvhom he was walking home. Their assailants used stones, bricks and knives. Wesolowski was badly cut on the right arm and both arms were black and blue from the bruises received in defending himself. Markiewicz was pounded and cut all over the head and body. He made his was home as best he could and this morning was found lying in his back yard. A physician was called and pronounced the man fatally injured. He leaves a widow and two children. Five Hungarians have been arrested on suspicion of having committed the crime.
