One-time child porn suspect charged with rapeBy JEFFREY B. ROTHTimes CorrespondentA former child pornography suspect has been charged with raping two children, ages three and five Ross Stanley Amick, 50, of Gettysburg, is facing charges of rape, statutory rape, mvol untary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, mde cent exposure and corruption of minors The charges were filed by Gettysburg police Amick was arrested Sunday at his home and was arraigned before District Justice Samuel Frymyer Amick was committed to the Adams County Prison m lieu of bailIn a 1993 case which is still ongoing, Amick was arrested on various child sexual abuse charges A doll maker, Amick was charged with multiple counts of solicitation for the sexual abuse of children The charges were filed by the Attorney General’s Child Abuse Protection Unit Court records alleged that during 1991, he took lewd photographs of the genitals of infant females Amick told the children’s parents that he took the photographs in order to manufacture anatomically correct dolls The Attorney General’s agents served a search warrant on Amick’s business and home Alleged pornographicphotographs of the children were seized Amick’s attorney filed a motion to have the evi denee suppressed because the search warrant application listed only the business address and therefore had no authority to search Amick’s house The court granted the motionOn April 27, 1993, Amick appeared in court with his attorney The court continued the cases for five years and ordered that Amick be evaluated by Di Fred Berlan at the Sexual Disorder Clinic of Johns Hopkins University, BaltimoreUpon the successful completion of any counseling program recommended by Dr Berlan, the charges against Amickwere to be dismissed According to Adams County Assistant District Attorney Martha Duvall, those charges have not been dismissed Technically, the charges are still m force against Amick In the latest charges,Gettysburg police allege that Amick had sex with the two children The matter is still under investigation Police are asking anyone with any information'on the case to call them at 334-1168 All calls will be kept confidential The investigation is being handled by Detective Walter Ghem Cpl Cytha Grissom, along with officers Lany Runk and Douglas McKinney conducted the initial investigationT'rties file photoRoss Amick
