Ind., Oct. 17Activi-tives of the Newton county nudistcolony were halted temporarily today under a restraining1 orderissued by Judge George F. Sammons. The action was taken upon requeRt ! of the state, represented by Edward Barce. deputy attorney general. In addition *n the petition for temporary restvainirig order, Barce filed a plea for abatement of a nuisance. The camp is located at Rose Lawn 30 miles north of here, on a farm owned by Lorene Knapp. She and her husband, Alois Knapp, Chicago attorney, operate the colony.Barce contended that the Knapp farm adjoins the Rose Uwn school.€ «Ha also declared that young children are permitted to mingle with unclad adults. The state conducted an exhaustive investigation of the colony before taking legal action, Barce declared. He said neighbors had complained.Knapp, however, insisted that the neighbors never had objected to the colony.“We didn't bother them and they didn’t bother us,” he said. This whole trouble was stirred up in Indianapolis. The members of our colony keep themselves in seclusion and do not parade up and down main highways without their clothes like one of the Indiana papers saidKnapp declared he would fight the restraining order. His wife claims that her parents practiced nudism on the farm long before it became a popular fancy.Membership in the colony is between 60 and 70 persons, mostly fom Chicago. On week ends anywhere from 30 to 60 persons frolic in the woods without clothing of any kind.I!\
