Many of our old citizens will call u mind the genteel, agreeable and cultured young law student in the office of Col. E. B. Wilhoit back in the 70's. His license to practice law w*s granted by Judge M. J. Ferguson and he was sworn in as a member of the bar of the State for the first time in the old court house in Grayson. Old Captain Davnwas at the time clerk and ad• *ministered the oath Judge Paynter remained in Grayson fcr several months. His first law case was beforehasIihersquire Alfred McGlone, on Buffalo. Ho moved from Grayson to Lincoln Center, Kansas, and later located in Greenup. He served six years in Congress and the old soldiers never had a morefaithful fiieud and helper than “Tom Paynter”, and they will notfrget him now. The peo* 6f Carter county ought to feet proud of Judge P ytiter's success, and his sterling worth. He is a good lawyer and a digni-heyl^cd and incorruptable Judge. He ought to and will be reelected. Hon. J. N. Kehoo has an en-JVastheJonthelowad-the jet, ir*y isviable record as a Congressman, and he will get. many republican votes.
