The first witness this morning was Joe Harris. The crowd which was in the court room waited with the most breathless interest upon every word he said.He was quizzed by Counsel Goudy for the defense up until the time he loft Seiber in the pasture of the Seiber cattle company, after riding with him for some distance. From this point he told Iiis story without questioning, without any dramatic features about it, but in the most common place way.Ho asid that he resided at West-wator and that he had worked out occasionally to help obtain money sufficient to improve bis ranch.He had worked for the Webster City cattle company and had worked one time for the Seiber Cattle company. Ho had held various official jiositions, among them being school , director and deputy sheriff of Grand | county, Utah. Certificates of appointment were placed in evidence from Frank Schaeffer of Grand coun-t ty. Utah, that ho had been a deputy I sheriff* Some one had voted for him I for constable, but he had never qualified.
