Saturday night to tlnd a burglar in her room at her residence on Bandera1 avenue, West End, She had heard a noise as if someone falling against a chair, and then saw somebody light-I Ing a match. S^e was attacked by ‘ I the intruder, who had a knife, and her cut her on the arm, near the wrist. At scuffle ensued and she scratched himon the neck, after which the man fled,while Mrs. Mockert was almost prostrated from fright.Yesterday morning a scabbard, a hat and a pair of shoes, which the man had left, were found in the house. The police were notified, and all day yesterday Detectives Jim McCloekey and ' L. H. Ooley were out looking for a man11 to Answer a description given them,which was minute in details. They suc-I ceede In locating a man of whose iden-j tity they believe there is no doubt. He 5 1 is a Mexican, living near the cotton 7 compress, and last night Detective Mc-2 Closkey took him in charge just as he 7 was leaving the house.7 I The prisoner was inclined to resist 2 j at first and the officer to make sure of 2 his man put the nippers on him. The latter soon had n the prisoner under control, but in the struggle he injured his left hand withit which he held the prisoner, and the hand soon began to swell.
