Bail reduced to $5,000 for man charged with child pornographyBy JEFFREY B. ROTHTimes Staff WriterA Gettysburg man charged with four counts of possession of child pornography had his bail reduced on Thursday.The Adams County Court reduced the bail for Ross Stanley Amick, 47, of 208 E. Middle St., Gettysburg, from $40,000 to $5,000. The $5,000 bail can be made at a cash percentage which does not require the entire amount. As of early Thursday evening, Amiek was still incarcerated in the Adams County Prison, according to a prison spokesman.The charges were filed against Amick by Gettysburg Police Detective PFC Walter G. Gliem Jr. Allegedly, Amick, a doll maker who operated a business called Southern General Dolls and Gifts, had 71 photographs of nude female children, ages 1 to 10 at his apartment when it was raided on Sept. 15. Police allege that Amick took photographs of the children which graphically depicted their genitals.The investigation into Amick’s alleged activities began on July 15 when an investigator from the Attorney General’s Office contacted Gettysburg police regarding Amick. The investigator requestedthat the local police turn over copies of any complaints filed against Amick.Allegedly, police received complaints from four mothers of children who were approached byAmick. Amick allegedly told the mothers he would have to photograph the girl’s sexual organs in order to ensure that the dolls would be anatomically correct.A female undercover criminalinvestigator was assigned to the case. She posed as a mother of a pre-teen daughter. Allegedly, Amick asked permission to take nude photos of the girl.According to the affidavit of probable cause used to obtain the search warrant, Amick asked one of the mothers to sign a contract which contained a provision that the mother would agree not to discuss with the news media: “ ...anything pertaining to the dolls, how they were made, what was required of us as parents or of our child as a model. Police claim to have found contracts of this type during the search.Police also allege to have found adult pornography and sexual devices in Amick’s apartment. Amick was scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing last Friday, but that hearing was continued.
