MYSTERY SURROUNDS THEACCFOUND UNCONSCIOUS MONDAY MORNINGMr. Wooley, Who HaaEmployed at Hayckmvilte Until Recently, Was Found Unconscious on Logtan-Nel* sonville Road Monday Morning About 1 o’clock—Still inUnconscious Condition and Little Hope Is Held for HURecovery.Monday morning about 1:00 A. M., Will Matthews of UnionFurnace discovered an unconscious man lying in a pool of blood by the side of the road on the Logan-Nelsonville pike. He was immediately taken to the Cherrington hospital where he still remains unconscious, altho there is thot to be a slight improvement. The man is Herschel Wooley of Buchtel. For the past few months he had been employed at the National Fire ProofiingCo. at Haydenville, but a week ago obtained work at the Logan Pottery. He left for Buch tel Saturday to see his wife, who has just returned from a Columbus hospital; he also called to see his mother and brother in Murray City.Mr. Wooley left BuchtelSunday at 8 P. M. to walk toLogan, so he could go to work Monday morning. That is allthat is known until he was found about 200 yards west of the Union Furnace read. Therewas broken lights near him which could have been the lights of a machine; but it is not known whether or not the glass was there before Sunday night. What is most puzzling is that the cuts are all on top of the head and lead many to believe that he is the victim of an attack. He had evidently been lying there some time, as he was very cold when found. His brother from Murray City was in Logan Wednesday. He says Mr. Wooley has four children, the oldest aged about 7 years. As soon as his condition permits, trephining will be resorted to.
