Haddemaii, administratrix of the estate of Henry C. Hdlleman, deceased, against the Illinois Central railway, has been settled by the Ming of a stipulation in district court. Plaintiff receives $2,-500 and releases any claim that she may have as the widow. She also pays costs of the action.It will be recalled that Henry C. Haddeman, a teamster, was instantly killed on Feb. 7, 19OS, at the Sycamore street, crossing of.‘the Illinois Central railway, when struck by an engine belonging to this company. The engine was being taken around the belt line. Her attorneys asked damages in the sum of $10,000 from the company, claiming Mr. Haddeman met his death through the negligence of the company.. The complaint averred that while the company had a flagman at the Sycamore street crossing, he was in. his station and did not warn Mr. Haddeman of the approaching engine, which, it was claimed, was traveling at high speed, about thirty miles an hour.
