Sargent and Ike Sickles, in the Wilkinson flats, 332 East Main street. The intruder’s object was foiled b Mi. Sickles, who scared the man away by snapping a revolver and shouting that if he did not take a sudden departure he’d find himselfwhere all bad people go, and the fellow did not let the grass grow underhis feet. The families were all asleep whenthe burglar tried to gain an entrance. Mrs. J. E. McCormick, who resides in the first flat, heard him prowlingabout and remembers that he first attempted to get into the rooms of Mr. and Mrs. Sargent by way of the doors and windows in the rear of the house. Failing in this he went to the door of Mr. Sickles whose wife had awakened him on hearing the strange movements. Mr. Sickles secured his revolver which was unloaded and going to the window, threw it open. A man ran past within a few feet of him and in the darkness Mr. Sickles couid not make out his appearance, except that he was small in stature andattired in dark clothing.Mr. W. L. Sargent returned to hishome shortly after the incident and at once sent word to the police, who have been making a diligent, but unfruitful search for the burglar.
