Theyvisited Bill Bradford's place at Sixth andVine streets, George Hennan's at 288 West Sixth street, Mark Simonton’s “Turf Exchange” on Longworth street, GusHoeltge’s on Sixth street and Joe Kamp’s directly opposite. In each of these places the detectives found the odds on racing events posted on the boards and a crowd of men and boys watching them. Money was changing hands among individuals'and as soon as the police entered there was a wild scramble among the habitues to escape. Ed Griewe was arrested for embezzlement last Wednesday and says he lost his money in Hoeltge’s and Kamp’s places, but the officers decided that there was no gambling going on that they could prove and made no arrests.
