♦;$880 FoGOLD!4 Duped Omahans Find Its j f Only Cheap Brass Later {OMAHA, Oct. 14—(API—Mr.and Mrs. Sam Lettween of Omahareported to police today threestrangers had swindled them of$660 in cash and $220 in jewelrywhich the couple gave up as “security” for what was represented to them as gold. The metal turned out to be a cheap brass alloy.The swindle occurred threeweeks ago when one of the men came to the Lettweens grocery and bakery establishment, saying he was interested in purchasing it. Later a second man appeared and inquired about i. gold buyer. The “gold buyer” then arrived and appeared to interest the man negotiating for purchase of the store in joining with him in buying the gold. . r' ;V'™ ' rv~The man negotiating for purchase of the store asked the Lettweens for money until he could get funds later in the day. To help him the couple turned over $600 and jewelry, holding the “gold” as security.
