Suspect arrested in double slayingStaff and wire reportsA man was arrested today in the slaying of his estranged wife and a man who were found dead on a Logan County highway after apparently being struck by shotgun blasts, authorities said.Logan County Sheriff Michael Henry said William E. Kennedy of Waynesfield was arrested shortly after midnight Saturday in a house near the Logan-Auglaize county line.Henry said Kennedy was charged with two counts of murder Friday in the deaths of Debra Kennedy, 28, of Waynesfield, and Phil E. Thompson. 35. of Lakeview.He said both victims were employees of Plastipak in Jackson Center.The sheriff said deputies were dispatched to a county road about one mile west of Lakeview at 7:29 a.m. Friday after receiving a call that a vehicle was in the roadway.Henry said deputies found Mrs. Kennedy’s body lying on the pavement in front of the car and Thompson’s body in the front passenger seat.“They both had been apparently shot with a shotgun.” he said.Logan County Coroner J.B. Mc-Griff said a preliminary investigation indicated that each had died of a single shotgun blast.probably at close range.
