Probably a Mistake.The Herald published on Monday last the rumor to the effect that Evan Fix was dead. We learn that on the 29th of June last at Hillsboro, Ala., Wm. Fix, Evan’s brother, got into a quarrel with a colored man, which originated through jealousy of Fix because.of his marked attention to a mulatto girl to whom the negro was a lover. The quarrel resulted in the negro shooting Fix, the bullet fired entering Fix’s knee, shattering the bone in a terrible manner. Soon after it was reported that the wound would prove fatal. But this prediction as late as about two weeks ago, had not been verified, thoughit is a fact that Fix has never been able to set the foot of the wounded leg to the ground. It is thought he will never recover from the shot. It is perhaps this accident that gave rise to the rumor as to Evan Fix.
