By JOHN SHARKEYStaff ReporterThe trial of a 22-vear-old Aiken man charged with aggravated assault was scheduled to continue today Testimony in the trial of Albert Wimberly, charged with assaulting a police officer on the night of Apnl 30. ended late Tuesday afternoon Wimberly is charged with assaulting Patrolman R M Yount, who was one of two officers respond ing to a complaint about loud music at a party at a Colleton Avenue houseYount, presently employed by the Lexington County Sheriff s Department, testified that he suffered injuries to the hand and back during a fight with Wimberly after he arrested him for disorderly conduct The former city patrolman said he and Patrolman Wallace Owens, currently employed by the S C Highway Patrol went to the house on Colleton Avenue shortly after 11 30 p m on Apnl 30 After telling the homeowner to turn the music down Yount said he and Owens began to leave when some persons at the party started shouting obscenities at them Between 75 and 100 persons were at the party Yount said He testified that Wimberly cursed him as he was leaving and he then told Wimberlv he was under arrest Yount said Wim-m(See ASSAULT.
