105 YEARS OLD; IS IN JAILFOR TRYING TO KILLA WOMANFrank Bacchus* colored, who'is probably the oldest person-In Nevada, being more than 105 years of age, this morning attempted to kill Mrs* Emil Wei-chert, who conducts a lodging-house it 201 East Second street, in the Catfr-ferata building* The; old man U nowin 3aii charged with assault with intent 'to kill, but: to all probability he viflll ;be examined for insanity and committed to the Nevada Insane asy-^Bajjchus was out picktng Vreeds in hla garden when Mrs. WeJchert who was? out for her morning walk, crossed the ditch between the ; Bacchus groundauc( Second street. Bacchus saw Mrs. Weieiiert and 'rushing^ at her ordered her - from the ground. The woman started/to run when Bacchus struck herover the head with a: gun and knockedher to the ground. He then stood over her and' was preparing to shoot her when a number of women residing in Chinatown ran to the scene and began .to scream. This startled Bacchus and before he could turn upon Mrs. Welch-ert again she had sought shelter amongthe women from Chinatown.Mrs, Wc'ioh^rt was attended by aphysician at tjie police station and a gash in herscalp more than three inches long was sewed up. She. ther, swore to a, complaint against the aged negro,, charging him with assault with intent ^o;:k!ll.Judge Bell stated this afternoon thathe believed! Bacclius is erasty and that he should bo examined by a board OS insanity commissioners. This la the third time within a year that Bacchus has tried to commit murder.
