Stabbing Affaib.—A number of hands, working on the railroad, near Arcadia, in ihe absence of their employer, on Monday last, provi-I iled themselves with a jug of whisky, contrary ’ lo the rules prescribed, and entered on a “ general high.” Mr. John Kesler, an Engineer on the road, to whom was entrusted the care of the hands, interposed and forbid them the use of the liquor ; and when they still persiaied in tbeir course, he finally took the jug and poured out its Contents, whereupon he was attacked by the combined force, foremost among whom was Dan.| Matthewson, who, we learn, drew a pistol and attempted to shoot Mr. Kesler. The latter, in defense, drew a knife and stabbed Matthewson in the chest, the knife penetrating the lungs, wounding him quite severely. Mr. Kesler was arrested, and after a hearing before Esquire Kelly, was discharged. At last accounts, the wounded man was recovering.—Findlay Jefftr-tonian.
