cuseu men.Widger Found Guilty.Although circumstantial evidence was exceptionally strong against him, George Widger, pr Bridgeport, refused to plead guilty to the charge of stealing chickens from the hennery of John liigleaou, of the same borough, before Judge Swartz, but after the testimony was heard the jury soon rendered a verdict of guiltyElgleson testified that one night he was awakened by his wife and informed that someone was in the hen coop. Climbing out on a back roof, he saw a man whom ho recognized as Widger and he shot at him. The intruder ran away yelling with pain. Some i*urs later the Bridgeport police located Widger in a shanty under the intluence of liquor moaning as though in great agony. They had him removed to Charity Hospital where fora week the authorities picked the small shot from all parts of his body.Widger claimed that he was drunk on the night iu question, that lie was not in the coop, but nearby, and that Kigleson fired at him while he was passing the letter’s yard.He was sentenced to four months in the county jail.
