T, RKINEBOLDIIIStaff WriterTommy Hannah may have been the victim of a robber who removed Hannah’s wallet with about $7 after blowing one side of his face off with a shotgun Monday morning, authorities said today.‘ Sheriff Coy K. DeArman said Hannah’s body, which was found by a truck driver about 8:30 a.m. Monday, may have been robbed of between $5 and 17, providing a motive for the apparent murder.The incident occurred at a rest stop on Interstate 8 nearTrekell Road, Hannah was emptying trash containers as an Ariiona Highway Department employe.-:Another report of an exploding aerosal can wasdismissed today by investigators, who confirmed that Hannah died from the shotgun blast to the right side of his face. Pellets were found in the area of the killing as well as in Hannah's body, they said.Investigators today werepiecing together what were admitted as “slim leads” in the case, DeArman said. About eight persons questioned about the crime Monday werereleased soon after questioning, and an unidentified number of •persons stopped in a vehicle near Blythe, Calif., were soon released after questioning by authorities there later in the day.Flannah, 46, of Pieacho, wasdiscovered by a truck driverwho had stopped at the rest areaabout two miles east of the Trekell Road interchange on Interstate 8.Approximately seven minutes later, the first deputies from Casa Grande arrived, and a vehicle allegedly sped from the area just as officers arrived. Deputies said persons in theauto stopped in the rest area, • but quickly returned to their vehicle and sped from the area. The vehicle was later spotted at a Picacho restaurant, and the three subjects in the auto werereturned to the scene for. questioning. ;; .Deputies confirmed that thetrio did have a rifle in the auto, but it was determined that they apparently left their car to dump some trash in a garbagecan and noticed Hannah's bodyand sped from the scene.
