East Side Iour southern way of life, P. D„ look, if Clyde Kennard wants to ' come to school here to get an education, then I'm one-hundred percent for him. On the other hand, if he wants to get a lot ofpublicity and make a test case, I'm against that. Everyone I saw ■ treated him with courtesy and respect; so did the administration. And this, I must say, shocked me — to think that a boy born and reared right here in The Magnolia Jungle v/ould take such an at- . titude was beyond my understanding. But then, I don't know, I suspect it's the fault of Governor J. P. Coleman. For almost four years now he's been governor and hasn't yet purged the state of moderates — and, God knows, there must be at least a half-dozenloose in the state.Anyway, I extend my hearty and sincere congratulations tothe High Constable for his fine and noble work in the case of... of.. .well, that person who dared defy our southern way of life. By 1God, he'll learn 'em!
