Itis certainly one of the saddest af-fairs that ever happened in Morgancounty and the Jolrnal hopes therewill never be another like it. Ofcourse a coroner's jury hears butone side and full judgment should bewithheld until all the facts areknown, but the absence of Hobson*and Large is partly a confession of guilt. It was said on the streets that Skinner had also put out. but that was not absolutely con tinned and the report of the officers insearch will have to beheard before an opinion on that subject is expresseJust how far the Larges are crim-- —ina) it will not do at all to say until they have been heard in their own defense. A gentleman who knows them well says he doubts if the girl’s stepfather is really criminally connected with the unfortunate affair and lie says he strongly advisedLarge not to leave, as that would almost amount to a confession, butthe man s fears were so aroused that he couldn’t stand it and hastened away. Dr. Manley was called awavfrom the citv the second morning ofthe examination and wasn’t before the coroner's jury at all, though it is not fully known that he would have thrown much light on the sub-rs. She said her sickness wasbrought on by Dr. Skinner in the opera house block who had performed an operation on her. Win.Hobson had furnished the money to•/Skinner.
