Fire Singes Frat House, No InjuriesOne person escaped unharmed late Friday night as a fire caused extensive damage to a home at 403 Wood Ave., rented by Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity of Bemidji State College.Firemen were called to the scene at 11:55 p.m. Fire authorities said the blaze broke out in furniture in a downstairsroom that apparently wasplaced too close to a floor furnace.Larry Tunnell, St. Paul, was asleep in an upstairs bedroom when the fire broke out. He escaped by crawling through a window onto a porch roof and letting himself to the ground.Firemen remained at the scene for more than an hour. The house is owned by Ora Gregerson of Wadena.
