Nath Damage ActionSettled For $18,000!1.'11A private settlement was made shortly after noon, Wednesday in the Harry Nath vs. Donald and Jeanette Verritt damage action. An $18,000 settlement was made, Nath told the Courier. Over $6000 in medical and hospital ex- j| . penses and the attorney’s fees are included in this total.The action was the result of an auto-tractor accident in July, 1962, in which Nath had the large bone in his left l£g crush-*~ed, and the smaller bone in this».‘leg fractured along with fiveribs.At a conference held Sept. 9,; attorneys could not agree on a settlement, so the case went to •‘trial.^ A jury was selected and the trial got underway , on Monday. 'Witnesses continued to b6 heard on Tuesday and up to Wednes-lt;j4y noon.Dr. Jerome Paulson of Mason City testified that Nath was in the hospital three times for a total of 63 days; 28, 14 and 21 day stretches. He submitted to 'surgery each time.Nath used crutches or a cane for the greater part of two years.
