Looney was seated in an automobile in front of a hotel with J his father. John Looney, publisher ofthe Rock Island News when fired upon by the occupants of two passing automobiles. The lives of hundreds ;^of citizens were menaced by the shower of bullets. All of the participantsin the battle were armed.The fight was the climax cf a war that has been raging between factionsIn connection with an agitation againstvice conditions in the city.
