Puckett, husband ofMrs. Minnie Lee Puckett, of 7 New 'St. Francis street, who died from ! ^strangulation and drugs at the hands of unknown persons, according to a coroner’s jury on the morning of September 18, last, surrendered at the county jail at 11:30 o’clock last night and was docketed on the charge oX non-support. The war«ant was sworn out before Judge F. S. Coffin of the t juvenile court. Puckett had not made . bond today and is in the county jail.Puckett arrived in the city yester- * day, according to his lawyer, Attorney I Foster K. Hale, after an absence, of j several weeks, said tp have been epettr in Texa« and California. The warrant f charges that Puckett failed to provide j * support for his family. The defendant denies the charge. •Mrs. Puckett was found in a dying condition at her home on the morning of the date mentioned with a rope around her neck and both hands tied. The only words that she uttered were they hit me on the head. She died a few minutes later.Mrs. . Marie Evans, rooming house proprietor of 307 St. Francis street and former police woman, was detain, ed at police headquarters after the death of the Puckett woman, but the state abandoned a charge of dangerous and suspicious againsrt her when I o it was called in court.
