Tlie Granite State irt' Trouble.The steam-barge Granite State, loaded with cedar from a Canadian port for Chicago, was bcaclied at Clay Banks last .Monday-evening to prevent foundering. The craft had run on the rocks at some point about the straits, but was got off after some trouble and resumed her trip. When off the ship canal she made Water so fast that shewas beached for the purpose above stated.- 1The tug Kilty Smoke went to. the disabled barge’s assistance Tuesday with d steam- ' pump; which will be placed on board, arid if sufficient to keep her afloat rvili proceed to Manitowoc or Chicago where she will be drydbeked.
