A few weeks since Wilber Ramey, aged twelve years, in company with others, was cn the Allegheny mountain for berries. The party becoming thirsty dispatched young Ramey for a pail of water, the nearest known spring being about a half a mile distant along the old Watson road. After arriving at the spring he placed his vessel under the spout extending from the spring and sat down to remain until it was full. Scarcely had he seated himself until he saw before him approaching the spring, and apparently coming from a dense ravine, a frightful spectacle. It was the form of a nude human being, except that the form was covered with hair. The hair on the head and face was very long and dark in color. The hair on the body and limbs being much shorter. The hearts of his hands and the soles of his feet were the only parts not covered with hair. His eyes were very large and piercing and his arms unusually long. He came to the spring with two small wooden spouts, and after placing an end of one into an end of the other he drank by means of these spouts, continually eyeing young Ramey without uttering a word. Ramey through excitement remarked that there were men up along the road waiting till he would get them a i drink.” This caused the unwelcome stran-1 ger to glance up the road, the only time that his eyes released the boy, who got his backet and started to retrace his steps up I the mountain side when the man disappeared in the bushes. Young Ramey was so badly frightened that for several hours afterward he ate nothing, and iu his sleep for several nights succeeding he would become excited and speak of the ''wild man.” Rumors have it that tracks of bare feet have since been seen iu several places on the mountain.Tlio mamlwri rtf llx KmII'm Mill# Re.idintr
