51 am.The park was thronged with people moving to and fro from the Corse statue at one end to the chutes on the other. The grounds were free from all gambling devices yesterday, and all amusements were of a pure and wholesome character.The w’haleback, or razzle dazzle, was one of the points of interest, and a crowd of people surrounded it all the afternoon. A general scramble for a seat was made at the close of each trip, and everyone was anxious to investigate this queer, though pleasing, swing.After many trials and exasperations the Messrs. Scholer succeeded in getting their shooting the chutes incline and motor power in good working order,and yesterday they began to reap their first harvest of dimes in return for their investment. There was always a crowd of people around the entrance to the chutes, and they could not begin to accommodate the number that desired to ride down the incline. But eight people were allow'ed to ride in one boat, and when one was brought to the top and made ready for the trip down again, at least twenty would scramble and fall in, head or feet foremost, it made no difference.
