The jury in the case of Wiihelrnine Burteh vs* R. Lorenzen entirely ignored the j udge’s instructions and after having been out over thirty-six hours, returned a verdict for Burteh for $1.00 which was a surprise' to most everyone. If R. Lorenzen was guilty as charged then a dollar was nothing in shape of damage to health and things attending the life of a woman whose husband used liquor, but if not guilty why would a jury compromise by sending in such a verdict as was read this morning. H. G. Curtis filed a motion for new trial thismorning.
