LAKE'S HOTTHEORY FOLLOWED OF ▲ ’WOMAN’S MURDER.Finding of a Corset May Furnish sClew—▲ Duck Hunter's Story.CEDAR LAKE. Ind.. October S.-After a day spent In dragging Cedar lake. Sheriff George W. Lawrence has come Into possession of a clew which may lead to the solution of the mystery of the head found last Saturday.A year ago laet June William A. Ford, a fisherman on Cedar lake, found a woman'* corset lying on the floor of an outhouse attached to the Monon station here Ford entered the building between I and 2 o'clock In the morning and found the corset lying upon the floor. It wae soaked with water, and had evidently been removed In a great hurry. Thinking nothing of the dtecovery, Ford picked It up and presented It to Mrs. Annie Rosen-beuer. who lives at Cedar Lake, and still has the stays in her possession. The finding of the corset by Ford In connection with other circumstancss which cams to light, is considered by Sheriff Lawrence a most important link in the chain of circumstances attending the flndtng of the head. The silver plate which wae found In the head was closely examined by Dr. J. C. Tinkham. a dentist In Crown Point. Dr. Tinkham unhesitatingly declared that the plate had been made to fit the mouth of a woman. Dr. Tinkham said that the piste wae of the kind which is made at large dental parlors, and from certain peculiarities he was convinced that it had been made by some one who had not had long experience In the dental profession.Dragging the Lake.Sheriff Lawrence, accompanied by a deputy, commenced the work of dragging Cedar lake In the vicinity where the head was found. The bottom of the lake was thoroughly gone over with grappling hooks, but nothing was found which threw any light upon the mystery* A diver from Chicago explored the lake’s bottom, but could find nothing.Sheriff Lawrence, after several hours of work became convinced that nothing more waa to be found In Cedar lake which would throw light upon the mystery. The clew furnished by Ford's find will be thoroughly investigated. The corsets which were in the possession of Mrs. Rosenbeuer. were of a light summer pattern .and were of cheap make. They had evidently been removed with considerable fdrce, as the strings had been torn from the back and the two halves had been entirely separated. Upem one side was a slight stain as If by blood, but much of it had been effaced by the action of water. Mrs. Rosenbauer said that the corsets were of the pattern usually worn by women In moderate circumstances In the summer.. There was nothing upon them which would indicate where or by whom they had been sold.Expects to Find the Bodj.Detective Sttble believes that Instead of a decapitated heed an entire body or the upper part of a body was thrown Into the lake. An examination of several witnesses who saw the head when taken to the shore has convinced the detective that it was not tied In a bag when found. Though pieces of hair and flesh have been plckod up where the head lay when It was taken from the boat the twine which the boys assert was tied over the head has not been found. The nieces of the bag found were long enough to envelop a body to the waist, and the detective believes that the reminder or a part of the body will ba brought to the surface by the dragging now being done under the direction of Sheriff Lawrence.
