........* ■ m ■ ■ —RIIiEY STEWART FINED;••Riley Stewart, who fired a shotgun twice at his brother-in-law,Thomas Tillison, near Fairland, $t%the noon hour Monday, paid fines and costs on charges of assault and battery and pointing a deadly weapon following a brief hearing in the court of Justice Webb Monday even-, ing, the amount on the former charge being $10.10 and on the latter $9.95, a total of $20.05. It is now said there was very little dan- 1 ger in the situation, after all, for Mr. Tillison, as his father-in-law, .1 Solomon Stewart, suspecting the in- : tentions of his son, had extracted i all shot from the shells kept at the lt;house and had filled them with pa-per and other material. A' sensa- ' tional feature of the incident, not 1brought out in the stories published 1•Monday evening, is found in the fact that Stewart reloaded the gun. i after firing the first two shots and t then gave chase in the hope of get- 1ting another shot at Tillison. It i*was said that he even lay in am-] bush at an opening between two ] cornfields, hoping that Tillison would 1 come that way in an effort to reach i the road again.
