In July hb was living with two colored women; one Anna Gross, aged 141',gave birth to a child by FieidP. She died verjy suddenly and an investigation showed thatshe had bnen murdered by belngstructe repeatedly over the head with a paddediDBtrumart supposed to be the headrest of a barber's chair. The other woman in the case was also Suspected, but turned state’s evidence to clear herseif. The evidence was all circumstantial
