TO THE* PUBLIC.Whereas, I, the undersigoed, haring had a Bum of money stolon fj;oin me at my residence ou the night of the 17th of August, 1881.And, whereas, it has been reported ttiat I had caused William H. Forbis and Sam* uel M. Forbid to be arrested upon a charge of stealing said money, 1 deem it just to Baid William H. and Samuel M. Forbis to say that said report is wholly untrue, and does gross injustice to said parties ; that I hare said nothing from which it might be inferred that I thought them guilty, because I hare not even a suspicion that they were in any way oonnected with the theft.1 will further say that said gentlemen stayed at my house on the night of said theft, and each of them lost a sum of money at the time.I cheerfully make this statement as said report is liable to do my said neighbors an irreparable mischief.JoskPe Cals.
