Koss, and we neighbors have our thoughts and o]inions on the subject of the child's disappearance, which ! think should be presentedto the world.About ten years ago, when Chris-*■ •tian Ross was making* liis mark, and when his business was in the most prosperous condition, lie married a Western ladv of a good fam-iv, and very wealthy. He had two • * vchildren of the marriage, .Walter Ross and Charles Brewster Ross. For a lone* time this was one of the happiest families in all Philadelphia, but a few years ago Ross began to lead the life of a debauchee; he sought other company than his wife's, his business begun to# decrease, and he became a bankrupt.To a refined and delicate woman like his wife, this was a crushing blow, and she lied from the man, leaving the children in his care, and sought flie protection of her friends*. To inv* knowledge nu divorce ever^ I jtook place between the parties, and a short time after the llight of the1 ywife, another woman took her place in the family, and who still occu-The following is the theory of*. 7 kthose who knew the family, and who are aecpiamted with Ross personally :•Some months before the kidnapping Mr. Ross received letters from the first and only wife asking and% Odemanding the children. It willbe recollected that ,even up to thi.-.time he had refused to show any of»tin* letters he received, with theexception of die black-mailing note,and it will also be borne in mindthat the attempt was made to stealboth the children. We think Mr. Ross knows now, and always did know, where the child is, but refrained from making it public for family reasons.
