Internal Revenue Service yesterday afternoon raided a gambling establishment in the heart of Terre 1 Haute's business^ district and ar-! rested six memoers of an “international syndicate/’The men, one of whom is described as an “Internationally known gambler, were appre-■ hended at 2:23 o’clock in a third-story betting room located at 671% Wabash Avenue, one door west of the Manor House Restaurant.+ + +ALL WERE charged with failure to buy 550 federal wagering tax stamps.An hour and a half after their arrest the men were taken to Indianapolis by automobile to appear before U. S. Commissioner Edwin C. Jlaerle who issued the search warrant authorizing the raid. Each man was held under$5,000 bond.The operation was reported to have grossed more than one nyi-lion dollars a month since mid* September in betting operations. U. S.
