Hollis'and McCann rescue Vera and leave the ship In a small boat. McCann refuses to submit to the authority of Hollis, and the latter enforces obedience. The castaways are sighted by a ship, the Indian Chief, which takes them aboard. The.vessel is badly storm damaged. All officers are dead. Bascom, the owner, says he Is taking a cargo of ammunition to Germany. Hollis consents to take charge of the ship and continue the voyage.
