By the time Mrs. Laughrey got the pistol the burglar had started down stairs- She hied three shots after him, one as he was leaving the lower portion of the house through a window by which hv had gained entrance. The man was. distinctly seen by Mrs. Laughrey a ad Miss Cora Laughrey, He was -ihort, of heavy build and wore a dark cap. He car-ride a dark lantern which he was using In his search for mone}' and jewelry. Apparently the man had just entered the room when Mrs. Laugh-rey, whose room adjoins that of her daughter, discovered him. The door between the room3 was open. Nothing had been taken from the house.
