Chisholm, charged with assault and battery on Mayor Wheeler, was tried. Chisholm was found guilty, and the cage was continued one weak forsentence. The testimony was that Chl#-holm on *h« morning of Nov 17 met Mayor Wheeler on Main st, near Dim, and assaulted him.Chisholf accused the JVftiyor of making erogatory remarks about himself and is father at the Gilbert Club a. few eve-ntngh previous. After Chisholm hudstruck two blows and the Mayor retaliated once Ale*, Adams, 22, of Wood-side av, Rostbury, interfered and knocked Chisholm down.Judge York ruled that the remarks attributed to the Mayor at the club w»*re unusable as evidence. In summing up,I he said that the Mayor did everythingI potsfblo to avert the- affray, that he triedto explain to Chisholm, but the latter had lost his head. The Mayor, he said was not in a light; he had been assaulted.ft attained more than the minor Importance of a street, tight. It was anassault on the Chief Bxecuttve of the city.
