CARROLL COUNTY HAS RECORD CORN SHUCKERThis being tlu* open season for corn shucking stories we lake the liberty of submitting the following, oijc of the first that has inaile its appearance:Thurlow Mullcmlore, a young man 21 years of age, shucking corn for George Lowery, of near Delphi, averages 128 bushels a clay when the weather is tit for him to work. Tuesday he shucked 8(1 bushels in •I V' hours, or at the rate of 178 bushels for a day of ten hours had he been able to -keep up the clip.. He is some busker, does his \%ork well, shucks his corn clean rs he goes and is one of the host nubbin peelers” in Carroll county. He lives near Rockftcld and has been shucking for Mr. Lowery this fall, Mr. Lowery highly praising bis work.SLAYER OF POLICEMAN IS GRANTED A PARDONCharles F. Lawson oT Delphi, who shot and killed a policeman al l)el-: phi on the night of Oct. 18, 1915, land who was tried in the circuit [court at Frankfort on a char: e of first degree murder, lias been finally discharged from the state reformatory al Jeffersonville.Lawson, in company with several young men, were loafing about Delphi waiting for a train back to their homes in Lafayette after having stolen a ride on a freight train. lo the town.When accosted by the town marshal and arrested for loitering, a fight ensued. In making bis escape from the policeman, the three men put up a light and Lawson fired several shots, all of which found their mark in the ofilcer’s body, lie died the following day.Lawson asked u change of venue from the Carroll county court and the case was sent to Frankfort for trial.
