Behind closed doors Jerry Kimbrough, the negro man charged with an attempted assault upon Mrs, Butler Taylor, was convicted by a jury at Hanover Courthouse and sentenced to be hanged December 22. This was one of the quickest convictions that ever took place in Virginia.
