Wednesday, charged with the Illegal rale of Intoxicating ll'iuor In quantities less than one quart without a license, were heard by Judge retcr !■'. Daly In court here yesterday afternoon shortly after 4 o'clock. Eleven of those making pleas came from 1‘erth Amboy, one was from Fords and one from Madison township. Throe other Perth Amboyans, ’who had been Indicted, and notified to appear to plea, fallgd to put In an appearance.Before Judge Daly asked the accused persons to make their pleas, he pointed out that he would not stand in the way of any wno wished a trial by jury, but emphasized the fact that those who pleaded guilty now would get ofT with a less severe sentence than those who sttld not guilty, but were convicted by a Jury. Following this statement tho pleas of the thirteen persons were received. live saying ■•guilty,'' and eight not guilty.'1 Of the five that pleaded guilty three were from Perth Amboy.Those who appeared In court to plea and the disposition of their cases were as follows:William Ward. Another charge against Sablnsky Is pending.The three Perth Amboyans who weie scheduled to plead yesterday but failed to appear will he given an opportunity to plea Monday morning when the remainder of those indicted by the grand jury Wednesday w ill be arraigned before Judge Peter F. DalyThose who yesterday pleaded guilty, together with those who might admit their guilt when arraigned before Judge Daly Monday, will probably be sentenced next Friday by Judge Daly. The perjury charge was made against them as a result of their influencing Steve Szuiito, of Keasbey, to testify wrongly as to the age of his daughter In ihe vice clcan-up cases from Perth Amboy.It has been said throughout tho county that the Jerry O'Brien detective agency has been In this county aiding the prosecutor's office to secure liquor evidence, but Chief of County Detectives Richard Peltier stated this morning that the Guthell Popci detective agency of Hoboken were employed lo do this work and greatly aided the prosecutor's staff In getting this Information.The chief stated that he impress'd upon the men working tinder him, iot to use any ruse to obtain evi-lenee. and his orders were obeyed.
