Vandal wreaks havocTwo dozen cars keyed outside Stony Mountain ArenaBY KEVIN ENGSTROMA$I ,000 bounty is being offered to anyone who can help lead police to the punks responsible for keying two dozen vehicles at the Stony Mountain Recreation Centre last weekend.Stonewall RCMP were called to the scene at approximately 6 p.m. Nov. 17 when parents emerging from a pee-wee hockey game found many of their vehicles vandalized.“They (the vandals) had either taken a key or a sharp instrument and carved some profane language onto people’s vehicles.” said Cst. Gord Goresky. “We’re looking at $20,000 total in damage to all the vehicles.”As a result of the extensive damage, board members with both the rec centre and the Stony Mountain Minor Hockey Association have banded together to offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the vandals responsible.One of the vehicles affected belonged to WillyPinchin. The Stony Mountain resident, who was watching his son Nick play a team from Arborg that evening, was disgusted when he found obscenities had been scrawled on his prized ha if-ton.“They did $2,200 worth of damage,” said Pinchin. ‘They really did a good job on the passenger side and the hood.”Pinchin said he was livid when he discovered his truck had been vandalized.“I’m very upset because my truck is only three years old,” he said. “I’m very picky with my vehicle.”Almost as damaging as the vandalism to the vehicles is the damage done to the town's reputation, said Goresky.“It can make an entire community look bad,” he said. “You start to wonder ‘where’s it safe now?’ Do you have to wait out by your car while your kid's inside playing?”Goresky said the incident may not be isolated.“I heard some damage was done to vehicles the night before as well.
